Kehilat HaMashiach

Synagogue News and Events

Our High Holy Day services are listed below. We are conducting the events at our new meeting location, 18010 E. Missions Ave. in Greenacres.

We will begin on the evening of Wednesday, September 20 at 6 PM with Erev Rosh HaShanah (Yom Teruah). The evening includes a holiday oneg with traditional foods. Feel free to add to the kosher, dairy dinner. Be sure to participate with the opening b'racha as we share apples and honey. There are children classes and you may wear white as we remember that Hashem is working to make our sins as white as snow.

We meet the following daytime portion of Rosh Hashanah for Tashlich at 5 PM about a mile and a half west from Argonne Rd. on Upriver Drive in Spokane Valley. Bring bread crumbs, a camping chair, warm clothing and a dairy dessert (if you want to). Yom Kippur begins with the evening service, Erev Yom Kippur, on Friday, Sept. 29., at 6 PM. It is also Kabbalat Shabbat, so services incorporate the beauty of Shabbat with meaning of the Day of Atonement. This evening begins our fast so there is not Kiddush or HaMotzi.

The next day (Sept. 30) continues Yom Kippur with boker (the morning of) Shabbat. Services will begin at 11:30 and there will be no Hebrew class or liturgy class. They will resume at 9:30 AM and 10:45 AM, respectfully, on the next Shabbat, October 7th. We will break the fast of Yom Kippur together that evening after Shabbat at 7:30 PM and celebrate Havdalah. Bring a main dish and salad/dessert to the break-the-fast. May your fast and prayers on Yom Kippur be full of joy and strength. Chag Sameach.
